Asia Tech Review
Welcome back,
Christmas is nearly upon us, it doesn’t seem so long since 2018 began but already we are nearly out of time this year. One thing that strikes me is the number of unicorns and huge deals happen across the region. Even just the past week’s events highlighted that. Sure, funding isn’t the definition of success, but the growth happening on billion-dollar companies is striking.
Here’s a quick glance at some of the major news, with a lot of unicorn action:
☕️ Luckin Coffee now valued at $2.2 billion
🎵 Tencent Music goes public at $21 billion valuation
🇮🇳 Byju’s becomes India’s third largest startup at ~$4 billion
🦄 Korea gets a new unicorn, payment startup Toss
💸 Tokopedia is now both $7 billion and in the Vision Fund
🚖 Grab is (likely) close to its $3 billion Series H target
That’s all for this week, catch you again Monday or else sooner in the ATR Telegram group.
